Alexander Archipenko is an American sculptor and artist of Ukrainian origin, one of the founders of Eastern Cubism in sculpture. The works of A.P. Archipenko turned the world ideas of the early XX century. About sculpture, they untied their hands and freed the eyes of many artists-sculptors. It was Archipenko who was the first to "compose" a single form from various nonequivalent forms. In the postwar years, he was recognized as one of the founders of the artistic avant-garde.
He was awarded prestigious American and European awards, was elected a member of the International Institute of Arts and Literature and the American National Institute of Arts and Literature, his works were acquired by the largest museums in the world.
During his lifetime, he held 150 personal exhibitions. His work is held in 48 museums and at least 139 private collections.
